
Vivid Sydney - Largest festival of lights, music and ideas in the Southern Hemisphere

Vivid Sydney is a major celebration of Sydney’s creative Circular Quay, The Rocks and Sydney Opera House. From giant light sculptures of floating jellyfish and erupting fire installations in Sydney Harbour, to exclusive international music performances and the stunning 3D illumination of the Sydney Opera House sails.

There is nothing more thrilling than seeing the Sydney Opera House transformed into a canvas of bright colours and breathtaking images - one of the world’s most famous buildings singing and dancing in a way that few great monuments ever could,” he said.
An astounding line-up of local and international artists, including Bat for Lashes, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, The Avalanches, Cut Copy, Horse Meat Disco and The Crystal Ark. Legendary jazzman, the ‘Saxophone Colossus’ Sonny Rollins will celebrate his 80th birthday on the Sydney Opera House stage, and renowned British act Spiritualized will perform their magnum opus ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, We Are Floating in Space’ – in its entirety with full choir and orchestra. Vivid Sydney’s pop-up bar, The Sony Lounge, will be set up in the Western Foyers of Sydney Opera House with an ever-changing menu of DJs and a daily radio program on Triple J presented by Belgian brothers 2mManyDjs.
Vivid Sydney will include over 40 stunning light art installations from local and international artists in a free outdoor exhibition where children are encouraged to climb on interactive sculptures and aspiring photographers can put their night camera settings to the test.

5th Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival 2011
At Sabah, Malaysia
Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival is an annual fund raising jazz extravaganza organized by the Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu (RCKK) with the support of the Society of Performing Arts Kota Kinabalu Sabah (SPArKS). Staged in the picturesque Nature Resort City of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, the jazz festival brings together a musical melting pot of talents from around the world. KKJF 2011 will be held on the 17th & 18th of June 2011 (Friday & Saturday)
KKJF recorded a crowd of over 2,000 people during the 2 night performance in year 2010. The fifth installation of this musical festival promises to be another ground breaking experience with a great line up of local and international artistes. This fund raising event will support various community projects in Sabah. Money raised from the Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival is used to fund deserving community projects by the Rotary Club Kota Kinabalu – The Clean Water Projects. Some of the rural communities benefited from such initiative includes Kg Sonition, Kg Timbou & Kg Bimbolon, all in interior Sabah.
One of the striking differences about KK Jazz Festival is its line up of artists, which includes international names and highly talented local bands and singers. Acknowledging the immense talent of the people from the Land below the Wind, KKJF serves as a stage in showcasing our local artists. The artists performing this year are AgungBeat, ASEANA Percussion Unit, Benny Lackner Trio, Juzzie Smith, Lucky Octavian, Momain Blues, Spice of Tones, WVC TRiO + 1, Z Yan.
Apart from promoting KK as a tourism destination internationally, the festival has also successfully raised public awareness of the local community towards such popular music genre. With a series of pre-event fringe festival and workshops, the festival is an excellent platform for learning and interaction between the local music enthusiasts and the international artists.
The KK Jazz Festival is now a signature event in the Sabah’s annual calendar of events, and is also a key component of the Kota Kinabalu Arts Festival.
