Times Music recently announced a digital content distribution deal with Ithos Digital Pte Ltd. for the Singapore market. Through this deal, Times Music’s content would now be available across various digital platforms in Singapore including the first DRM-free online and mobile music store started by Starhub, a leading telecom operator in Singapore, and also other major Telcos like SingTel & M1. Sony Music.
There is an increasing demand for DRM free music, given the number of non DRM devices available in the market and Times Music through its partnership with Ithos Digital Pte.Ltd would be able to make its repertoire available via web and Mobile to Singapore consumers using multimedia smart phones.
Times Music is taking a fairly aggressive approach to digital distribution. Commenting on this tie-up, Mandar Thakur, COO Times Music said that, Times Music had category leadership in content across devotional, wellness and classical besides other music and hence given the increasingly global appeal of niche genres, the company was being proactive in several global markets.
