Sony Music Independent, in collaboration with Oranjuice Entertainment Ties up with global music initiative, ‘Playing for Change’ to create a social change through music education.
It is said that, ‘Music is a universal language that cuts across carriers’ and this holds true for the 3rd edition of LIVE from the console as they have tied up with ‘Playing for change,’ a non-profit organization dedicated to provide music and arts education to underprivileged children worldwide. This organization has announced its 1st annual PLAYING FOR CHANGE DAY as September 17, 2011 at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai (India) =here in LIVE from the Console will support the cause by sharing a percentage of =he proceeding. Similar LIVE events are confirmed in at least 25 countries across North and South America, Africa, Asia, and Europe.
The evening will showcase of Playing for Change: Peace through Music documentary, followed by K. C. Loy (Singer / Songwriter), Airport (Indie / Hindi rock), Bay Beat collective (BBC) LIVE feat MC Microphon3 & Rhys (Sax) and Bombay Bassment Regg.

Chaturprahar - An experience of Dawn to Dusk ragas

NCPA presents Chaturprahar - An experience of Dawn to Dusk ragas. The relationship of ragas with diurnal time-cycles is an interesting feature, unique perhaps only to Hindustani music. It is believed that a raga is more effective, when performed at the designated time of day/night.
Presented by three vocalists over two sessions, this programme will showcase ragas appropriate to time zones (prahars) from sunrise to sunset.The first session will feature Kaushiki Chakrabarty Desikan and Ulhas Kashalkar presenting ragas associated with the first and second quarter of the day.The concluding session will include ragas befitting the third and fourth quarter of the day, rendered by Devaki Pandit and Ulhas Kashalkar respectively.
